The wait is almost over! Hyundai's Vitara Brezza rival now gets a showcase date.

  • Hyundai QXi could be called Venue in India.
  • Will be showcased in India on April 17, alongside its global debut at the New York Motor Show.
  • Market launch likely to happen in May.
  • Expected to be feature-rich, though a bit more expensive than the Brezza and Nexon.

Hyundai had recently teased the (codenamed) QXi sub-compact SUV in a teaser video, further confirming a few features that the SUV was pegged to get. Now, there is a date when the QXI will have its showcase in the country. The India-specific SUV will have its debut alongside its US-specific cousin on 17 April 2019. Also, Hyundai has trademarked the name Venue in India and various other countries like Korea and Canada, which suggests that the QXi could finally have a name. While this will only be a showcase, we expect the South Korean carmaker to reveal key features, engine options a launch timeline and officially announce the name of the QXi.

In terms of design, the QXi follows the lines of the Creta. Plus, it takes on the new Hyundai family looks like the bumper-integrated headlamps, headlining turn indicators and the new cascading grille. The teaser further showcased the square LED DRLs and the roof rails of the SUV along with a sunroof!

Coming to features, the Hyundai QXi will most likely come with a decent list to rival the likes of the EcoSport and the XUV300. It will get a touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, climate control, steering-mounted controls, a detailed driver information display and rear AC vents. While the above-mentioned features are of high probability, cruise control, wireless mobile charging and ventilated seats are also on the cards.

Hyundai might also offer a 1.4-litre petrol with a manual shifter to keep the entry-level variant’s cost in check. Diesel option will come in the form of the 1.4-litre unit from the Elite i20, producing 90PS and 220Nm.
