Recent launches this festive season were expected to take the limelight off cars launched earlier this year in India. However, the Hyundai Venue, which was launched in May, just keeps on going. We had earlier reported that the Venue garnered 55,000 bookings in just 60 days. And now, Hyundai India has announced that its compact SUV has crossed a whopping 75,000 bookings in just 4 months. This is a welcome surprise considering the current slowdown in the automotive market as well as more recent launches this festive season. With a starting price of Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-India) and that unique design, it is certainly a tempting proposition. If you’re a fan of the Venue’s design, you'll be happy to know the upcoming 2020 Hyundai Creta sports a similar style.
The Venue's feat was announced following Kia Motors India stating that its Seltos SUV has crossed 50,000 bookings in 3 months, and the MG Hector racking up 28,000 bookings in July with another 15,000 on the waitlist. Another interesting bit from the Venue’s milestone is that 50 per cent of the variants booked come equipped with Blue Link connected features.
The Venue is offered at a price range of Rs 6.50 lakh to Rs 11.11 lakh (ex-showroom India), and 5 variants: E, S, SX, SX(O) and SX+ with three engine options. Hyundai is also planning to introduce dual-tone options for the top-spec variants.
Petrol options consist of a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo-petrol, outputting 120PS/172Nm, paired to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT. The other petrol engine is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit that develops 83PS/115Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel options consist of a 1.4-litre unit that makes 90PS/220Nm paired with a 6-speed manual.
Aside from Hyundai’s Blue Link connected tech, feature highlights in the Venue include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, six airbags, electronic stability control and hill assist.
It rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, and the Mahindra XUV300 in the Indian market.
