The Venue is Hyundai's first sub-4 metre SUV and the first made-in-India connected SUV as well. It gets an embedded eSIM which allows the infotainment system to remain connected to a server and allow the use of features like auto crash notification and assistance, stolen vehicle tracking, remote climate control with engine start/stop and geofencing.
The Venue will be available in five variants, with the flagship SX+ getting a host of convenience features, including projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch alloy wheels, an electric sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless mobile charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, six airbags, ABS with EBD, hill launch assist, rear parking sensors and camera, electronic stability control, cruise control and a tilt-adjustable steering wheel. It will be available in 10 colour options - Star Dust, Fiery Red, Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Deep Forest, Lava Orange and Denim Blue. The dual tone variants get Denim Blue with Polar White roof, Polar White with Phantom Balck roof and Lava Orange with Phantom Balck roof.
The Venue is powered by a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which comes mated to an in-house developed 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). It produces 120PS of power and 172Nm of torque. This engine will also be available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Other engine options available in the Venue are a 1.2-litre petrol unit that produces 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque, and a 1.4-litre diesel unit with 90PS and 220Nm on tap. These engine options will only be offered with a manual transmission. The 1.2-litre petrol engine is only available with the base E and S variants.
The Venue will arrive in a rather crowded sub-4 metre SUV space with rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and the Ford EcoSport. Expect it to be priced between Rs 7.2 lakh - Rs 12 lakh. The SUV will be launched on May 21.
