Heading out to the Hyundai showroom to get yourself a fully-loaded Verna in time for Diwali? Wait! You might want to look at the Anniversary Edition instead. Hyundai’s C-segment champ turned a year old on August 22, and this is their way of celebrating it. Here's a quick look at the prices:
Prices | Anniversary Edition | SX (O) | Difference |
Petrol (Manual) | Rs 11.69 lakh | Rs 11.51 lakh | Rs 14,000 |
Petrol (Auto) | Rs 12.83 lakh | Rs 12.65 lakh | Rs 18,000 |
Diesel (Manual) | Rs 13.03 lakh | Rs 12.85 lakh | Rs 18,000 |
Of course, the Anniversary Edition is more about minor feature additions and not any thorough makeovers in any department. Based on the top-spec SX (O) variant, the special edition is available in a new ‘Marina Blue’ paint shade. This paint job has become a bit of a signature with Hyundai cars (after the awesome orange) and can be had with cars such as the Grand i10, Elite i20 as well as the Creta. Hyundai has also decided to throw in a pair of faux skid plates at either end, which, in our opinion, looks a bit… blah. Smaller updates come in the form of black mirror caps, a black shark fin antenna and a subtle lip spoiler.

On the inside, the big change comes in the colour scheme. Where the standard Verna gets a beige-and-black colour combo, the Anniversary Edition gets an all-black dash. The seats too are now draped in black leatherette instead of the black-beige combo. To tie in the blue theme, there are blue accents around the central AC vents. In terms of feature additions, the special edition will gain wireless charging, a feature we saw debut with the 2018 Creta facelift. Since the edition is based on the top-spec SX (O) variant, you’ll continue to get goodies such as a sunroof, smart trunk, ventilated seats as well as the 7.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
With the Anniversary Edition, Hyundai will also throw in free third party insurance for the 2nd and 3rd year as well as offer an extra Rs 20,000 if you’re exchanging your old car. There’s an additional Rs 20,000 to be saved if you’re an employee of a select few corporates.
