With riders from across the country gradually joining the India Bike Week 2016, the mood for motorcycling enthusiasts has already been set. The Harley Davidson annual parade at the India Bike Week has just concluded and bike maker has now unveiled a few of its motorcycles.
Taking the centre stage at the Harley Davidson pavilion is the recently launched Sportster 1200. Essentially a replacement to the aging Superlow 883. Harley entered the Indian market with the launch of the sportster family which was the most affordable motorcycle from the brand before the launch of the Street 750. The Sportster 1200 makes use of the 1,202cc air-cooled v-twin unit that also powers the Forty Eight. As usual, Harley hasn't revealed the power figures of the Sportster 1200 but the torque rating stands at 96Nm. All of the power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed transmission.
The American bike maker also had its most affordable offering the Street 750 on display along with a few customised versions of it. Of these the Moto Miu Katanga Uno was one that grabbed a lot of eye balls. Harley also showcased the Road King, the Heritage Softail Classic, and the Sportster Forty Eight.
Aside from displaying their motorcycles, Harley had some very interesting innovations at India Bike Week this year. The Legend on Tour is a one of a kind dealership where enthusiasts can sample a few of the Harley products. For those who don't know how to ride a motorcycle but have always wanted to ride a Harley has it covered too thanks to a custom built rollers.
But the highlight of the India Bike Week 2016 for Harley Davidson was the massive turnout of HOG members. A record number of 2,500 HOG members marked their attendance this year.
