It’s raining discounts as manufacturers scramble to clear out their existing BS-III stocks. However, these enticing deals come with their own set of caveats. Here’s a list of things to look out for when you buy these bikes or scooters:
Payment And Registration Formalities:
While many dealers prefer cash as the mode of payment, some accept online payments as well. Do note that this varies from dealer to dealer. When it comes to registration, here’s a list of things you need to have to ensure a hassle-free process:
* Passport size photograph - Keep at least 5-6 copies with you.
* Address Proof
* Driving Licence
* PAN Card
* Some dealers require the customer to be physically present to sign From No. 20.
* Once the payment is made (Before 1st April), customers will have to wait for their turn and get the registration done. Few dealers say the registration needs to be done within seven days. Do check with your local RTO regarding this.
* The most important point to note is that if the registration isn’t done on time, you may be stuck with an illegal vehicle which you can not use on the road.
Pre-Delivery Inspection:
As with any new vehicle, a thorough check-up will always give you a better picture about the vehicle’s road-worthiness. Check whether the engine and chassis number match the information given in your two-wheeler invoice. A full visual inspection will ensure you’ve received an undamaged bike.
