We already know everything about the hotly anticipated 2020 Skoda Octavia that will be globally unveiled on November 11. The sedan has been spotted multiple times abroad in both the sedan and wagon body styles and Skoda Auto itself has teased the upcoming sedan with a couple of design sketches. Apart from that, Skoda also revealed all the technical information about the sedan including the chassis and powertrain options. Now, though, Skoda Auto has teased the 2020 Octavia with a short video teaser. The sedan has grown in size and gained a 48V mild-hybrid setup over the existing iteration. The fourth-generation Octavia is expected to make its India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo with a launch destined for 2020 end. Currently, the Octavia is priced from Rs 16 lakh to Rs 26 lakh (ex-showroom).
The short video teaser reveals some design elements including the new single headlight unit and the Audi-esque taillamps. The teaser also shows the Octavia’s wagon version, which is highly unlikely to be offered in India. A small part of the tailgate can also be seen in the teaser with the Skoda badge affixed in the centre position. With the help of some spy images, we also found out how the new Octavia’s cabin will look. A new floating infotainment system, two-spoke steering wheel, virtual cockpit and toggle switches for various controls are the notable bits inside the cabin.
Globally, the new Octavia is offered with 5 engine options: 1.0-TSI, 1.5-TSI, 1.4-TSI, 2.0-TSI and a 2.0-TDI EVO. The petrol engines are available with outputs ranging between 110PS and 190PS while the diesel is available in three states of tune: 115PS, 150PS and 200PS. The 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI are also available with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a PHEV option that makes use of a 1.4-litre TSI paired up with an electric motor (204PS and 245PS). These engines are expected to be paired. Closer home, Skoda is likely to offer the 1.5-litre TSI and 2.0-litre TDI EVO engines.
Moving on to the features, the major highlights are a 10-inch infotainment system, Smartlink+, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, sunroof, connected car tech and other driver assistance features. When launched in India towards the end of 2020, the Octavia will rival the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla Altis and Hyundai Elantra.
