Honda has officially revealed its compact SUV, the WR-V, in Brazil at the ongoing São Paulo International Motor Show. The car is based on the Jazz, but carries a plethora of changes on the outside to give it a distinct aesthetic appeal. One can still find a slight resemblance with the Jazz on the sides and the rear, but that's that.
Honda has been teasing the car for quite some time now, and the reveal has taken the anticipation a notch up, since the interiors are still being kept under the wraps. The car has been developed by the research and development team of Honda Brazil.
According to Honda, the WR-V, like all its other cars, carries the company’s DNA which focuses on making cars around human beings. Moreover, Honda claims that the WR-V was created after a lot of customer feedback, which has helped in putting together both the exterior and interior setup.
The WR-V carries a butch front end with plenty of crests, creases, chrome and layers. The front grille is made up of a fat single-slat chrome piece flanked by aggressive headlamp units with LED daytime-running lights. The bumper is a very muscular element with a faux skid plate, black cladding and circular fog lamps. Move to the sides and one will find the cladding continuing at the bottom and dual four-spoke machine-cut alloy wheels. The roof features chunky roof rails, while the rear end is marked by the presence of LED C-shaped tail lamps.
Since the car is based on the Jazz, which is a very spacious car in itself, the WR-V is also expected to boast the same interior space credentials. It will also feature advanced infotainment system loaded with Honda Connect, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The car will go on sale in Brazil in the first half of 2017 and subsequently to other South American countries. We in India might have to wait a little longer than that, maybe until the end of 2017.
