Mercedes-Benz unveiled pictures of the next generation A-class hatchback. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz has received both cosmetic and mechanical updates. It is the first occasion that the Mercedes-Benz A-class has received an update since its launch back in 2012. The design of the car hasn’t been revised drastically as the A-Class in its current guise is still an impressive car. Design updates include restyled bumper, tweaks to the diamond grille and optional LED headlamps. Also the car gets new tail lamp unit and the exhaust tips have been integrated into the bumper and looks neat.
Talking about interiors, the 2016 Mercedes-Benz A-Class gets a new infotainment system that supports Apple's Car Play and MirrorLink. The screen size has been hiked by an inch to eight inches based on customer feedback while ambient lighting is an optional extra. Additional features on the car includes reverse parking camera as a standard fitment while the Sport trim gets the benefits of climate control.
Powering the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatchback are the A180 and A220 diesel powerplants. The nomenclature has been changed as the erstwhile A180 CDI has been christened A180d. The Mercedes-Benz A180d produces 110PS of power while the A200d pushes out 176PS. Whether these new powerplants make their way to India remains questionable. The performance oriented Mercedes A45 AMG has also received mechanical updates as it now produces 380PS which is almost 22PS jump in power. Also the 7-speed double clutch gearbox has been tweaked to offer faster gear shifts. The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class debuts in July in the European market with deliveries commencing by September. Expect the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class to hit our roads by late 2015 or early 2016.
