The Renault Duster SUV has been a hit in the Indian market. The carmaker even exported this SUV to the international market with a ‘Dacia’ badge. However, a recent notice on Renault Dacia’s website states that certain batches of the Duster are being recalled in UK. The reason cited for this recall is the detection of corrosion in the cars.
The paint quality across the panels especially under one of the door frames and the area under the bonnet is found to be inconsistent. Although, this issue in any way does not affects the performance of the SUV, the company has announced a recall for a particular lot that were sold between January 2013 to August 2014 in the UK market.
The right-hand drive Duster SUVs for the UK market are no longer built in Renault-Nissan’s Chennai factory in India, as production was moved to the brand’s core plant in Romania citing economic and logistical reasons by the company. Apparently, Renault received around 90 complaints in the UK over corrosion issues on the Duster SUV.
The Renault Dusters sold in India are still being manufactured at the same plant. Renault India is, however, tight-lipped regarding the Dusters sold here.
