Iconic American bikemaker Indian Motorcycles renowned for their cruiser range of motorcycles has issued a recall for 23,766 units of its bikes. The recall is because of faulty fuel rail system which could affect neighbouring components following vibrations and may result in a fuel leak. It is a potential fire hazard, which prompted the manufacturer to initiate the recall.
The bikes prone to this are the ones manufactured from April 15th, 2013, to July 15th, 2016. The Indian Motorcycle range has been recalled in the US market, however, our country’s recall will follow soon.
We spoke to an Indian dealership from the northern part of India and were informed that the manufacturer will be training the service staff first. Post which the bikes of the Indian owners will be recalled and the required changes will be duly done. The bikes that are falling under the recall are the Indian Chief Classic, Chief Dark Horse, Vintage, Chieftain Dark Horse, Chieftain, Roadmaster models and the recently launched Springfield.
If you own any one of these bikes, then be assured that the dealerships will be calling you within a week. If you are still concerned, we would suggest you contact your dealer and they will further guide you on the recall.
