Motorcycle enthusiasts are in for a treat with several superbike manufacturers slashing prices across their lineups. All this is courtesy the Government’s decision to reduce custom duty from 75 per cent to 50 per cent, levied on big bikes entering India via the CBU route (Completely Built Units). However, since India has a Free Trade Agreement with Thailand, motorcycles imported from there, won’t be affected.
Among many brands that have benefitted from the Government’s move, is the American manufacturer Indian Motorcycle. In fact, its entire model lineup has seen a drop in prices after the revision of customs duties. The company has extended this benefit to the customers who can now save up to Rs 3 lakh, based on the model purchased.
For instance, the Indian Scout is now Rs 29,500 cheaper, while the Scout Bobber is more affordable by Rs 1 lakh. The price of the Indian Chief Dark Horse has gone down by Rs 2.44 lakh, whereas the Chief Classic has received a price cut of Rs 69,500.
Commenting on the import price cut and revised prices of the Indian lineup, Mr. Pankaj Dubey, Managing Director & Country Head, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are glad that the Government has rationalised the import duty structure to 50 per cent across the range for imported bikes. The new attractive price of our products available in India will definitely lead to more sales. This will also create opportunities for enthusiasts to buy our iconic products and be a part of the Indian Motorcycle family.”
Starting today, the following products would now be available at the prices mentioned against them.
