One of America’s oldest motorcycle manufacturers, Indian Motorcycles, has launched the Springfield in the Indian market, with an attractive price tag of Rs 31,07,770 lakh (ex-showroom, Gurugram). The bike is named after the birthplace of this iconic brand, which is located in Springfield, Massachusetts, and carries authentic American craftsmanship along with superior refinement and a lot of touring features.
Powering the Springfield is a Thunder Stroke 111 engine. It is a 1,811cc V-Twin mill which churns out an enormous 138.9Nm of peak torque at 260rpm. The motor has been coupled with a 6-speed gearbox. The chassis of the motorcycle has been designed in such a way that the bike can now carry a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 630 kgs. Some more changes include the 25-degree rake and reduced 133mm trail for better handling.
The bike comes with standard features such as ABS, front and rear highway bars, Indian script tank gauge, keyless start, quick release hard saddlebags, quick release windshield, tyre pressure monitoring and adjustable passenger floorboards.
The bike features a lot of electronics such as a tank-mounted analog speedometer with a digital odometer, tachometer, fuel range, battery voltage, gear positioning display, real-time clock, low engine oil pressure, a low fuel LED indicator and heated grip (if installed).
The company also offers some optional accessories and equipment with the Springfield, which include an ape hanger handlebar kit, performance kit, and a premium concert saddlebag audio kit.
