With top notch luxury car makers the world over shifting their focus towards satiating the voracious appetite of the Chinese high-end automobile market, the luxury division of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd has recently proclaimed its well examined decision of moving its global headquarters to the city of Hong Kong.
Infiniti’s decision to shift shop to the Chinese capital comes as a well strategized attempt to lift the company’s total global sales to 500,000 vehicles a year. This ambitious target is only part of a much larger six-year mid-term business plan by Nissan, called the Nissan Power 88.
With Infiniti and its parent Nissan’s Motor Co. Ltd’s headquarters sharing a common wall for its worldwide operations, Infiniti is hopeful of consolidating its global downstream functions in Hong Kong.
Seeing this as a golden opportunity for Infiniti to reinforce its Asian hospitality standards, Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, said “ As Infiniti grows its presence in the global luxury markets of North America, Europe, China and South East Asia, we selected Hong Kong as the optimum location for our new global Infiniti headquarters,” said “We see an opportunity to reinforce Asian hospitality within the Infiniti brand, distinct from both Nissan and our facing luxury competitors. We are proud to be the only automaker that will call Hong Kong home.”
The exact location for the company’s global residence in Hong Kong is uncertain at this point, but what is clear is that the choice of location is a logical one, at least for members of the global marketing communications team, who cater to key markets across China, India and the ASEAN region.
Once completed Infiniti’s co-located global headquarters along with Nissan Global Company Limited (NGL) is expected to operate with about 100 staff, and will complement the company’s global headquarters operation in Yokohama, Japan.
