UPDATE: Jeep has launched the facelifted Compass at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Jeep India is all set to launch the facelifted Compass tomorrow on January 27. While the exterior gets a nip and tuck, its interior is brand new with plenty of new tech and features onboard. Here’s all the dope:
First, The Interior
Usually, we’ll start talking about a car’s exterior, but let’s start this report with the facelifted Compass’ interior, which gets a major revamp. It features a brand new dashboard with plenty of soft touch plastics and faux leather trim. The piece de resistance is the new floating touchscreen infotainment system, which comes with the carmaker’s latest UConnect5 software.
Jeep will also offer it with various colour schemes to suit tastes of different customers.
More Features Onboard
Amidst rising competition, Jeep has gone all-out and equipped the facelifted Compass with a host of new features including connected car tech, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, powered tailgate, a wireless phone charger, an Alpine sound system with a subwoofer, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Features such as climate control, cruise control, keyless entry with push button start, a panoramic sunroof, and auto headlamps and wipers have been retained. Safety is covered by six airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
Now To The ‘Facelift’
the automobile community
Exterior changes are minor, with the majority of them being at the front. For starters, it gets a chrome delete and all the blingy stuff has been replaced with grey, giving it a stealthier look. The Compass also gets new bumpers that lend it a muscular look while the new LED headlamps look sharper now. The side profile and rear-end look largely similar save for the new alloy wheels.
No Changes Under The Hood
No changes have been made under the hood of the facelifted Compass. It continues to utilise the 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine and 163PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit. A 6-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. The petrol-automatic variant utilises a DCT while the diesel-AT comes with a 9-speed automatic. Both engines drive the front wheels, however, the diesel engine can be specced with an all-wheel drive system.
Price And Rivals
The Jeep Compass is likely to be priced between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 26 lakh, putting it in the league of the Skoda Karoq, VW T-ROC, Hyundai Tucson, and the Tata Harrier.
