Design changes likely to include revised headlamps, new bumpers, and new alloy wheels.
Cabin changes include a larger touchscreen, revised dashboard layout and feature additions.
Likely to be powered by FCA’s new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine and 2.0-litre diesel engine options.
Transmission options could include a six-speed manual, DCT, and a 9-speed automatic.
It could rival the Skoda Karoq, Hyundai Tucson, and the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross and next-gen Mahindra XUV500.
Jeep has been working on giving the Compass SUV a mid-life refresh for some time now with test mules spotted both in India and abroad. Reports now suggest it could debut at the Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition in Guangzhou, China, scheduled to be held from November 22 to December 1, 2020.
Despite heavy camouflage, a few changes are visible including a new set of alloy wheels. Expect more tweaks to the front and rear bumpers, LED headlights, and a new colour palette. The bigger changes are in the cabin with a revised centre console that houses a larger touchscreen infotainment system, possibly a 10.25-inch unit from the new Fiat 500e.
Expect features such as FCA’s new UConnect 5 infotainment system, a new steering wheel, repositioned climate control knobs, a branded audio system, ventilated front seats, and a digital instrument cluster. The updated Compass could also get level 2 autonomous tech with features such as highway assist, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, active blind-spot assist, and driver attention alert. But whether these features make it to the India-spec model or not remains to be seen.
Another notable change is set to be under the hood in the form of FCA’s new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. This motor is offered in two states of tune: 150PS and 180PS. Possible transmission options are a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT automatic. The 170PS 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine is likely to be carried forward unchanged with both 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic options.
Expect Jeep India to launch the Compass facelift in the country by mid-2021. Prices are likely to be at a premium over the current model that retails from Rs 16.49 lakh to Rs 24.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It will take on the Skoda Karoq, Hyundai Tucson as well as the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross and next-gen Mahindra XUV500.
