The Jeep Compass Trailhawk, which is expected to be launched in July, will debut the long overdue diesel-automatic powertrain. While the diesel-automatic variant is a welcome addition, the Compass Trailhawk will be the first FCA product in India to comply with BS6 emission norms.
The Compass Trailhawk will employ the same 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that’s found on other variants, producing 173PS of power and 350Nm of torque. However, it will feature mechanical and software updates to comply with the upcoming regulations. While the engine and the power output will remain the same, the Compass Trailhawk will come mated to a 9-speed automatic torque converter instead of the 7-speed DCT that’s available on the petrol model. Expect other variants of the Compass as well as Jeep’s other models to be updated to meet BS6 regulations soon as well.
The Compass Trailhawk will also feature additional off-road gadgetry, including a ‘Rock’ mode in the Jeep Active Drive System, a low range gearbox, hill descent control and a locking rear differential.
The Trailhawk is based on the Limited Plus variant and will get features like a dual-zone climate control, an 8.4-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic sunroof, a bigger and coloured MID, electronic parking brake, auto start-stop, and more. It is also expected to debut cruise control, which is not present on any other variants of the Compass.
The Compass Trailhawk has already started arriving at dealerships ahead of its expected launch in July. It’s expected to be priced at a premium of Rs 3 lakh over the Limited Plus variant, which is priced at Rs 23.11 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). But with other variants of the Compass set to receive updates for the new emission norms before April 2020, we expect Jeep to hike their prices as well. Stay tuned to ZigWheels for more updates on the Compass Trailhawk.
