Jeep, is reportedly, bringing back the Grand Wagoneer. As of now, the car will be the range-topping SUV for the brand and will sit above the Grand Cherokee. The Wagoneer was axed back in the late 90s. The all-new version of the SUV will compete against the Land Rover Range Rover, along with other SUVs such as the Porsche Cayenne, the BMW X5, and the Audi Q7. The Grand Wagoneer is most likely to debut in 2018.
Jeep, a few weeks back officially entered the Indian market with the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler Unlimited in August 2016. We know that the American carmaker is going to introduce new models in India in the near future; specifically, the Grand Wagoneer as all its rivals from Porsche, BMW and Audi are clocking good numbers in the country.
Jeep’s head honcho, Mike Manly, revealed the arrival of the Grand Wagoneer while speaking to a European publication at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Mike gave an estimate that the range-topping SUV might be priced between $130,000 and $140,000 (i.e. Rs 1 crore).
Information about the Grand Wagoneer is scarce at the moment since the car is still in the development phase. But the Grand Wagoneer might be sharing its platform with the next-gen Grand Cherokee, while using powertrains from Jeep’s Italian partner, Fiat’s Maserati brand.
