Kabirdass Motors stretches its legs

Kabirdass Motor Company Ltd., the Chennai-based firm making electric scooters under the 'Xite' brand has set its eyes on a nationwide expansion plan. Already quite popular in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka for its battery-powered zero-emission scooters, the manufacturer boasts of 33 dealer strong sales network through which it has sold almost 2000 vehicles in its 21 months of existence.

The company is now planning to take its brand across the country owing to a visible spurt in demand for these low-running-cost machines. A planned out localisation program to reduce the initial cost of the vehicles is also underway. Since the only qualm regarding electric scooters thus far has been its low top speed, the scooter-maker also plans to bring 2000 and 3000 watt scooters. Most electric scooters in the country are currently available with a wattage of up to 1500 kW.
