Adventure touring is on the rise and many manufacturers are getting ready to dive into the pool of this high-potential market of small-displacement adventurer tourers in the 250-300cc segment. Out of the many, it is India Kawasaki Motors that has made the first move in this direction with the launch of the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 in India. The new Kawasaki bike has been priced quite high at Rs 4.60 lakh as the Kawasaki Ninja 300 is available for Rs 3.61 lakh whereas the Kawasaki Z650 retails for Rs 5.26 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
The newly launched model is the youngest of the family of adventure touring motorcycles from Kawasaki. While it is designed to take both on- and off-road challenges, it is powered by the same 296cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin motor that powers the Ninja 300, pumping out 40PS at 11500rpm and 25.7Nm of torque at 10000rpm.
Mr Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors, said: “The Versys-X 300 will offer a high level of riding excitement and rider confidence in a wide variety of roads. What makes Versys-X 300 versatile is comfortable highway cruising and easy riding in the city.”
In order to stay true to its adventure touring capabilities, the Versys-X 300 comes equipped with 41mm long travel suspension and a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. The company claims to offer a wider set of handlebars, a low seat to accommodate most riders, and a wide pillion seat as well. The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 also gets an all-new, highly rigid backbone frame to handle its adventure touring capabilities in an effective manner. Furthermore, the company also claims to have worked on the heat management technology, which enables better airflow while riding, to help dissipate engine heat by redirecting the air to keep other parts cooler, such as the tank and the frame, thus adding to the rider’s comfort.
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is priced at Rs 4.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai & Delhi). Since the new model is coming via the CKD route, it will be assembled at Kawasaki’s Chakan plant in Pune. Bookings for the Versys-X 300 have opened and customers can visit the nearest Kawasaki dealership to book this vehicle. You also get optional accessories like LED pilot lamps and a single pannier standard with the India-spec bike.
At present, India Kawasaki Motors stands strong with 22 dealerships across India offering a wide range of 22 products, which includes supersports, naked, sports tourer and off-road models.
