KTM is working on a track-exclusive hyperbike with a reported power output of 240PS!
KTM RC16

When the KTM RC16 MotoGP machine was first unveiled, it was rumoured that KTM is also working on a road-spec version of its race bike. Now, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer has hinted that the Austrian bikemaker has indeed been developing an RC16-based track bike for consumers. While details regarding the upcoming KTM hyperbike is scarce, it will be on similar lines as the Honda RC213V-S and the Ducati Desmosedici, which means it will be a track-only machine.

Production of the KTM hyperbike will be limited to just 100 units to maintain exclusivity, and the customer version bike will be very similar to the KTM RC16 Grand Prix motorcycle. Now, the track bike churns out an eye-popping 273PS from its V4 powerplant but we expect the consumer version to be slightly detuned, and it might still pump out a gut-wrenching 242PS. Cycle parts will be top-notch, with WP parts for damping and premium range of Brembo braking hardware. Carbon fibre will be used extensively to keep the weight low and since the bike will be restricted to the race track, KTM will not have to worry about emissions and other such norms.

The Austrian bikemaker also plans to price the bike aggressively. Now, before you get your hopes up high, the aggressive pricing is in relative terms with the price tag of the Honda RC213V-S. Expect the KTM RC16-based hyperbike to be priced around €100,000 and €120,000, or between Rs 73 and 87 lakh. So if you have the resources, and a race track in your vicinity, or even better, own one, well the upcoming KTM RC16 hyperbike should be on your wish list, although you would have to wait till 2018 for it to be launched.
