We already brought you the news of Kymco and 22Motors bringing in new products for India soon enough as the company put out several teasers on its social media page. One such particular teaser stated that Kymco wants to bring in premium scooters to India while the product teased in the image had a ‘300’ decal on it. Looking at Kymco’s global portfolio, it is likely to be the X-Town 300i.

We had earlier believed that Kymco was going to focus solely on electric scooters, but now it seems like the company is also looking at conventional petrol-powered options. Case in point, the X-Town 300i, a maxi-scooter which is powered by a 276cc single-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled motor. The motor pumps out 24.5PS and 25Nm. The output figures might sound a bit much for a scooter but since this is a maxi-scooter everything about it is big.

It looks big and properly maxi. It gets a wide front apron with a large windshield. Plus, it has got an inclined floorboard as well, which will come in handy for touring. Yes, it can tour as it has a massive 12.5-litre fuel tank, large seating space and a large wheelbase.

Suspension units used are a chunky 37mm telescopic fork and dual shocks. It runs a 14-/13-inch wheel setup with disc brakes at both ends. Yes, the 300i gets a three-piston caliper with a 260mm disc on the front wheel while the rear wheel has a twin-piston caliper acting on a 240mm disc.

Given that this is a premium scooter, we believe Kymco will price the X-Town 300i quite close to the Rs 2 lakh mark. With this scooter, Kymco is venturing into fairly unchartered territory as the only maxi-scooters to go on sale in India are the Suzuki Burgman Street and the erstwhile Kinetic Blaze.
