Cabin gets carbon-fibre sports seats, carbon-fibre inserts all over, a roll cage, and new graphics for the touchscreen infotainment system.
After being unveiled in markets abroad in November 2020, Lamborghini has launched the Huracan Super Trofeo Omologata (STO) in India at Rs 4.99 crore (ex-showroom). Based on the Huracan GT3 EVO -- a three-time 24 hours of Daytona winner and two-time 12 hours of Sebring winner -- and the Huracan Super Trofeo (ST) EVO, Lambo’s Squadra Corse’s one-make race series, it has a heavy motorsport pedigree while still being road-legal.
Under the hood, the Huracan STO gets a specially calibrated Squadra Corse 5.0-litre V10 naturally aspirated engine, delivering 640PS and 565Nm. Paired with a 7-speed DCT that distributes power to the rear wheels, it can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3 seconds, the 0-200kmph sprint in 9 seconds, and hit a top speed of 310kmph.
That’s not all, it boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 2.09kg/hp, rear-wheel steering, and an F1-inspired CCM-R braking system that gives it ample stopping power from 100kmph in just 30 meters and from 200kmph in 110 metres. It also comes with three ANIMA driving modes: a default STO mode for road driving, Pioggia mode to handle low-grip surfaces, and Trofeo mode to really unleash the STO’s capabilities. Lamborghini claims 75 percent of its body panels are made from carbon fibre, which coupled with 20-inch magnesium wheels give the STO a weight of 1,339kg, 40kg lighter than the Huracan Performante.
The Huracan STO certainly looks like it’s inspired by its motorsport siblings, with the bonnet, the aggressive fender, and front bumper, all combining to form a single component. It gets large air ducts on the bonnet, an air scoop on the rear hood, air intakes in the rear fender, and a shark fin on the rear bonnet for engine cooling and aerodynamic gains. The rear wing is a single slot with double airfoil that can be manually adjusted according to track characteristics. Lamborghini claims this aggressive body kit has led to an increase in aerodynamic efficiency by 37 percent, and 53 percent more downforce than the Huracán Performante.
The racy theme continues inside as well, with the STO featuring carbon-fibre sports seats with four-point seat belts, a roll bar, and carbon-fibre accents all over. The touchscreen infotainment system also gets new graphics and a UNICA app that keeps record of track performance data and logs.
All these racy add-ons, of course, come at a cost. In fact, the Lamborghini Huracan STO is the most expensive Huracan money can buy followed by the Huracan EVO Spyder AWD at Rs 4 crore (ex-showroom). Its price is roughly similar to the more potent Aventador S that retails at Rs 5.01 crore (ex-showroom).
