Electric vehicles might be all the rage now, but good ol’ Lamborghini continues to soldier on with V10s that are a petrolhead’s wet dream. The carmaker has unveiled a rear-wheel drive variant of the Huracan Evo.
The main talking point of the Huracan Evo RWD is under the hood of course. It retains the naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10, delivering 610PS of power and 560Nm of torque. It also retains the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yes, this is a downgrade from its all-wheel-drive sibling by 30PS and 40Nm. But a 33kg weight advantage means its 325kmph top speed is identical to the ‘regular’ Evo.
Despite its technical specification, Lamborghini claims that this variant isn’t aimed at lap records or outright top speed. It’s meant to make the driver feel special, and naughty too - if we may add! For that, the carmaker has calibrated the Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS) specific to the RWD trim. This setup will allow more opportunities for sideways action with torque delivery in advance even when the car is realigning itself following a drift. Of course, this can be calibrated with three driving modes: Strada, Sport, and Corsa. The trade-off for tail-wriggling fun is that it’s 0.4 seconds slower to 100kmph, taking 3.3 seconds.
Aside from performance tweaks, Lamborghini has also given the Huracan RWD some cosmetic tweaks in the form of a new front splitter, larger air intakes, and a revised rear diffuser. Interior highlights include an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Apple Car Play connectivity.
India already has the Huracan Evo AWD in hard-top and Spyder trims, priced at Rs 3.73 crore and Rs 4.1 crore (ex-showroom India) respectively. The RWD variant is expected to be the most err… affordable Huracan in the range. And, in case you like your cars from Modena instead of Sant’Agata, there’s the Ferrari 488 that promises as many giggles!
