By now, if you don't know what the Tata Nexon is, you've probably been living under a rock. For those who do, well, the big day is finally here. Tata Motors will announce the all-crucial price of the sub 4-metre SUV today. That will play a massive role in determining its fate against the stalwarts in the compact SUV space, the Vitara Brezza and the EcoSport.
The Nexon is an important launch for Tata, no doubt. This will be the manufacturer's third (and final) all-new product for this year. The Hexa was launched in January, followed by the Tiago-based "styleback", the Tigor, in March. Tata's mantra of packing in more for the money has been evident in their past products, and the Nexon is no different. We're expecting the compact SUV to be priced quite aggressively, undercutting the arch-rivals.

There are two brand new engines to choose from. This includes the 1.2-litre turbo petrol that makes 110PS/170Nm and the 1.5-litre diesel that develops 110PS and 260Nm of peak torque. Both engines are paired with just get the 6-speed manual transmission for now. An automated manual transmission (AMT) is under works already. In fact, we've got word they're out and about clocking some real-world kilometres on test. If you're eyeing an automatic Nexon, you will have to wait till next year.
We've driven the compact SUV already; you can follow the links below to know what we think about it. There's a quick spec comparison too, in case you're stuck deciding between it and its rivals. Finally, follow us on Twitter (@Zigwheels) for live coverage of the launch. We'll be on live on Facebook around noon, tune in for a walk around.
