Honda tried blurring the lines between a scooter and an adventure motorcycle with its X-ADV 150 and the X-ADV 750, and we reckon the Japanese giant was successful to an extent. Guess the Chinese manufacturer Longjia noticed this, considering they’ve now introduced their own take on a rough-roader maxi scooter christened the XADV300i. As expected from a Chinese manufacturer, sure, they haven’t put much effort behind naming the scooter, but that doesn’t stand true for the offering.
One glance at the Longjia XADV300i, and the intentions of this maxi scooter become clear -- to tread where one wouldn’t dare venture with other scooters. For starters, Longjia has equipped the XADV300i with a quad-LED headlight complete with LED DRLs. Additionally, there is a pair of auxiliary lights near the footboard for better visibility off the beaten path.

If you’re considering serious travelling with this scooter, there’s a variant with panniers and better crash and wind protection. Interestingly, the aesthetics don’t compromise on functionality, as the scooter packs enough underseat storage to gobble up a full-face helmet and boasts a massive 13.5-litre fuel tank.
The XADV300i doesn’t just look the part, but also has the kit to prove its creds. It features metal braces under the footboard for improved protection against the elements. For the floorboard, Longjia has added metal plates for better grip and a wee bit of rugged visual appeal. Then there’s the windscreen and the LCD instrument console, which can be manually adjusted on the go as per your riding style.
Longjia hasn’t cut corners on the underpinnings either. The XADV300i is equipped with a KYB inverted fork, a first for any scooter in the world. At the rear, two gas-charged shock absorbers take care of the suspension. Dropping the anchor on this beast are disc brakes at both ends with J Juan calipers (along with the safety net of dual-channel ABS).
To do justice to such a product, Longjia needed a capable engine as well, and the XADV300i thankfully gets that. A 278cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine belting out 25PS and 24.5Nm hauls this 169kg maxi scooter.
To sum it up, as much as everyone mocks the Chinese for putting out blatant rip-offs, some companies do manage to deliver. We have seen it with the latest offerings from Benda and Voge, and the Longjia XADV300i now makes it to the list. Unfortunately, we will never get to see this outlandish product in India. But we will soon have the BMW C 400 GT if you are smitten by the idea of maxi scooters.
