Suzuki Motorcycles, which finally tasted success in India with its 155cc street fighter, the Gixxer, will now export the bike to its own homeland, Japan. The bike is Suzuki Motorcycles India Private Limited’s first India-built machine that will be exported to Japan. According to Suzuki's press release, the first batch of the motorcycle has already been dispatched to its aforementioned destination.
Santoshi Uchida, managing director, SMIPL, said, “It is a very proud moment for all of us as we send off our Indian flagship motorcycle Gixxer to Japan. We are already exporting Gixxer to other countries like Latin America and some surrounding countries. The export of made in India vehicles to Japan denotes the high-quality benchmarks established by SMIPL and its expanding global role.”
Explaining the importance of this consignment, he added, “Exporting the Gixxer to Japan would also mean showcasing the advanced technology and superior quality standards within the competitive price range that have been developed by SMIPL in India. We are confident that the Gixxer will be well accepted by Japanese consumer as well”.
The Gixxer has gained decent popularity in the country along with its faired sibling, the Gixxer SF. The bike’s upright sitting posture and a responsive 155cc air-cooled motor on a lightweight chassis makes for a quick and fuel-efficient bike. The exported machine will have the recently updated rear disc brake along with choices of monotone and dual tone colours.
