Mahindra and Mahindra is all set to launch the e2o electric vehicle in the global market starting with the UK market. The international spec e2o that will go on sale in UK is expected to be priced around £13,000-16,000, which is about Rs 12-15 lakh. The UK spec Mahindra e2o UK will deliver a range of 120kms on a full battery charge. To meet the European homologation laws, the manufacturer has equipped the e2o with additional features like airbags, anti-lock braking system, electric stability programme, and tyre pressure monitoring device.
Mahindra will carry out the sale of the e2o through an online portal. Aspiring customer can check the features and specification of the electric vehicle followed by booking a test drive and having the car delivery at home. The aftersales maintenance work of the e2o will be handled by a mobile team who will offer door to door service.
Commenting on the introduction of e2o in UK, Arvind Mathew, Mahindra EV division leader said “The Mahindra e2o is a savvy electric car that redefines sustainable urban driving. We designed the e2o, as well as our complete sales and service model, to be more convenient and flexible in keeping with the way our UK customers live and work.”
In UK on an annual basis, about 10,000 units of battery operated vehicles are sold. The growth rate is around 50-60 per cent as compared to the previous few years. With the e2o, Mahindra wants families to buy the electric car as a second vehicle and also young professionals with children who’s everyday needs are fulfilled.
