The new Mahindra e2o all electric car is a significant step for the Indian automobile industry. Much improved over the model it replaces the e2o feels modern from the ground up. Its build quality is impressive and most of the materials look and feel premium. Unlike its predecessor, the Mahindra e2o feels like a proper car, albeit the lack of engine noise.
While the e2o is a commendable achievement for Mahindra, its price tags of Rs 5.96 lakh (on-road Delhi) for the basic T0 variant and Rs 6.25 lakh (on-road Delhi) for the top end T2 varaint do seem a bit steep at first glance. However, a look at the extensive range of features tells a different story.
Let’s take a look at the list of features the new Mahindra e2o packs in, some of which can embarrass more expensive premium hatchbacks in the market.

Apart from these regular range of features the e2o also comes loaded with some amazing features that can completely baffle you. One such feature is the REVive feature that allows the owner to call or SMS a contact point for reserve charge in case the battery runs out on the way. The air conditioning can be turned on remotely before the driver enters the car on those hot summer days. A remote lock feature allows you to lock or unlock your Mahindra e2o from anywhere with cell phone network!
Some of these features are class leading and do genuinely put bigger and more expensive cars to shame. However, the range anxiety of electric cars still lives on in the e2o. And with its limited boot space this is no weekend car, but if you want to drive short pre-planned distances on a daily basis within urban confines, the e2o is in a league of its own.

The new Mahindra e2o can also be charged by harnessing solar energy but this aspect is yet to gain a mass market edge in India. It takes five hours to fully charge the lithium ion battery of the e2o and at 20 kms of range with an hour’s charging the e2o could be a practical run about for those who have a daily stipulated short travel distance.
