Export to European markets to continue
Mahindra e2o

Mahindra Electric, a part of the home-grown car firm Mahindra, has suspended sales of the two-door variant of the e2o. This move comes courtesy of the poor demand of the vehicle across the country. However, Mahindra says customers interested specifically in the two-door avatar of the e2o can get one on made-to-order basis. Since Mahindra recently started exporting the two-door e2o to Europe, surely they can trim some down to cater to a handful of customers in India.

Launched in 2013, the e2o was the replacement for the old Reva electric city car. It was the first all-electric car for both Mahindra and India, post the home-grown carmaker acquired the REVA Electric Car Company in 2011. It was powered by a three-phase induction motor which produced 26PS of power and 53Nm of torque. These figures were enough for the little-hatchback to reach a top-speed of 81kmph and run for 120km on a full charge of battery. Being an all-electric, completely zero-emissions vehicle, the government of India offered a subsidy of over Rs 2 lakh on the car’s on-road price.

Mahindra e2OPlus

Last month, Mahindra Electric launched a four-door variant of the car and named it as e2OPlus. It is available in four different variants - P2, P4, P6 and P8. While the three-phase induction motor in the P8 variant produces 40PS of power and 91Nm of torque, the electric motor that features on the rest of the variants churns out 26PS of power and 70Nm of torque. The P8 variant also gets a bigger battery pack which gets a range of 140km on a full charge, which is 30km more than the rest of trims. The e2OPlus is priced between Rs 5.46-8.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
