Mahindra XUV300 Electric Vs XUV300: Design Comparision

Mahindra has finally given the XUV300 an electric counterpart at Auto Expo 2020. From the first glance, you can tell the two XUV300s are distinct from each other, despite being based on the SsangYong Tivoli. We take a closer look at the differences: 

Design:

The first and most visible difference between the two SUVs is the design. The standard XUV300 sports a conventional modern Mahindra look with projector headlights, LED tail lamps, LED DRLs, dual-tone OVRMs, and blacked-out pillars. 

The XUV300 Electric features different styling in the form of a new grille design, a new and sharper set of headlamps, as well as new front and rear bumpers. Differences at the side boil down to a new set of wheels. Blue accents around the body and new tail lamps round off the exterior differences.

Head inside the XUV300 Electric and it gets distinct features like blue accents around the cabin, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, and a new instrument cluster. The carmaker is yet to reveal more on the interiors, but we expect bits like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, steering modes, and heated ORVMs. Also expect safety kit like ABS + EBD, parking sensors with rear camera, ESP, driver and co-driver seatbelt warning, and high speed alert.

Engines:

The biggest difference between the two XUV300s is under the hood. The standard XUV300 is powered by  1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol mill produces 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque, whereas the diesel option delivers 115PS and 300Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual, but only the diesel gets an AMT option. The XUV300 Electric  is powered by an all-electric motor, juiced up by a high-density Lithium Ion battery pack. However, the carmaker is yet to reveal its specifications. It could provide a range exceeding 300km.

Despite not having a lot on the XUV300 Electric , we can already tell there are differences between the two. Expect the all-electric iteration to be priced at a premium over its predecessor, which starts from Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom India). However, there will be a long wait for an accurate price as the EV SUV will not be launched before 2021.
