With the rain gods opening up, it was that time again to test both men and their machines in the harshest of conditions. The famed Mahindra Great escape headed towards the thrilling Sahyadri's this time around. A total of 73 vehicles participated in this non-competitive rally which followed a challenging route through slushy mud tracks and daunting terrain.

The event was flagged off by Mr. S.K. Malhotra of Global Gallery Thane from the Harshgiri Lake Resort in Shendva Village on the Mumbai-Nashik highway. There were enthusiasts from Mumbai, Nashik, Igatpuri and Pune who took on the 68 km route which included rocky terrain, mud and slush, making it an off-roader's delight. As usual there were vehicles which got done in by the slush and needed a towing hand to free themselves, but that's just a part of the camaraderie which these jeep enthusiasts enjoy to the fullest.

The Mahindra Great Escape has been an extremely popular ever since the first event was flagged off in 1996 and serves as a platform to highlight the incredible ability and experience that 4x4 vehicles can provide. Over the years, the Great Escape has been held in diverse locations across India including Munnar in Kerala, Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh in Punjab, Mandawa in Rajasthan, Coorg in Karnataka and Goa.
