The Mahindra Marazzo promises to be a stylish, spacious and feature-laden laden MPV like no other. Here’s what to expect

The much-awaited Mahindra Marazzo will be launched in India tomorrow (3 September 2018) and is expected to carve out a niche for itself in the compact-MPV segment in India, slotting in between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (and its successor) and the Toyota Innova Crysta. Mahindra claims the Marazzo will offer unparalleled levels of space, comfort and features without compromising on driving dynamics, design or long-term ownership experience, not only compared to any existing Mahindra product but also the competition.

We have seen the various ‘Shark-inspired’ design elements of the Marazzo, you can take a detailed look at them here. But the MPV has also been spied without any camouflage whatsoever, and some of it looks less impressive than what the renders first suggested. We have driven the MPV already, but you will have to wait till 4PM tomorrow to know what we think.

What is available in the public domain thanks to a leaked brochure is that the Marazzo will be offered in four variants - M2, M4, M6 and M8. All of these will be offered with a 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel 4-cylinder engine paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. It is also likely that Mahindra may offer an automatic transmission in the Marazzo in the future. Power will be sent to the front wheels as standard and Mahindra has not said whether an AWD variant will be offered in the future.

The Mahindra Marazzo will be offered with a lot of kit from the base variant. The shark-spine-like AC module for the 2nd and 3rd row of seats will be offered as standard. This allows for the cold/warm air to be either directly blown at the passengers or spread around the cabin in a diffused manner.

The top-of-the-line M8 variant will feature projector headlamps with static-bending lamps, LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, leatherette upholstery, cooled glovebox, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, cruise control, rear parking sensors and camera, and puddle lamps. While the feature list is not exactly new, Mahindra promises these will feel much more premium than before.

Safety equipment offered as standard will include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, and ISOFIX child-seat mounts on the second and third row of seats.

We expect Mahindra to price the Marazzo between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making sure it does not directly compete with the Ertiga (Rs 6.34 lakh - Rs 10.69 lakh) or the Innova Crysta (Rs 14.34 lakh - Rs 22.70 lakh).

Stay tuned for live updates from the launch tomorrow on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, text review coming up at 4PM here, video review (featuring Kartikeya Singhee) coming up here.
