Remember the Peugeot P2x Roadster and Cafe Racer concept bikes shown at the Intermot back in 2018 and at the 2019 EICMA? Well, the production version has just been confirmed by the president of the distributor of Peugeot in Italy, Mario Minella.
Speaking to an Italian publication, Minella said that the concept versions shown at the EICMA had been quite popular. He also revealed that the 300cc Mahindra Mojo-based platform has been branched into 150cc as well as 500cc segments. This will help the brand cater to the international markets, including Italy.
Peugeot could kick things off with the production version of the Roadster variant as it will appeal to a broader set of audience than the sport-focussed Cafe Racer version. It packs an easy-to-reach handlebar and comfortable ergonomics, whereas the cafe racer model features clip-on handlebars for a more aggressive riding stance. The two motorcycles share a 300cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. In the Mojo 300, this BS6-compliant motor makes 25.7PS at 7300rpm and 25.9Nm at 6000rpm. Expect it to be tuned to suit the characters of the Peugeot motorcycles.
The two bikes get premium underpinnings in the form of an inverted front fork, twin gas-charged shock absorbers, petal disc with a radial caliper up front and a conventional disc at the rear, with ABS. The concept version looked pretty much close to production, so expect the Italian brand to unveil the bike(s) next year. As for its launch in India, it is unlikely to happen anytime soon, especially considering the coronavirus pandemic is still ongoing. Moreover, Peugeot’s parent company Mahindra is yet to become an established player in the Indian two-wheeler market.
