Mahindra & Mahindra has scheduled the launch of the new NuvoSport on April 4, 2016. The NuvoSport will be the replacement for the aging Quanto compact SUV by Mahindra. Now, with only a few days for the launch, the engine details of the NuvoSport have been leaked on the internet.
From looking at the leaked engine spec sheet, it is clear that the Mahindra NuvoSport will be powered by the mHawk 1.5-litre diesel engine which has been doing duty in the Quanto. The NuvoSport will feature two driving modes (Power and Economy) as seen in the KUV100. In power mode, the compact SUV will produce 101PS of power at 3750 rpm and 240Nm of peak torque from 1600-2800 rpm. However, in the economy mode, as the name suggests, the power and torque figures are less to return better fuel mileage. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox and will drive the front wheels.
Apart from the leaked engine details, the manufacturer has also recently released the official images of the NuvoSport. Designed by the Mahindra in-house team the compact SUV depicts a sporty and aggressive styling. The sleek grille is flanked by cat-eye headlamps with DRLs placed above like eyebrows. The rest of the NuvoSport gets a fresh external cladding with new alloys to complete its young look.
When launched, the Mahindra NuvoSport is expected to be priced between the Rs 5.5 lakh – Rs 8.5 lakh mark and will compete against its very own TUV300, Ford EcoSport, and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the compact SUV segment.
