The Mahindra Quanto is the most no-nonsense 7-seater family oriented MUV you can buy in the country today. With a strong 1.5-litre engine and rear wheel drive, the tough Quanto may not be a looker but it can sure take the hardship of rough usage.
That said, the Quanto has never really been hot on the sales charts. Now, to improve sales, Mahindra will soon launch an automatic transmission version of the car with an all-new AMT gearbox. The new car will be christened the Mahindra Quanto ‘Auto Shift’ and will be possibly powered by the same Magneti Marelli unit that comes in the likes of the Maruti Celerio and the Tata Zest.
The Quanto automatic will also be followed by other automatic models in the Mahindra stable including the new Scorpio and the ever popular XUV500. The smaller cars from Mahindra like the Verito and Verito Vibe are also expected to come with an automatic AMT gearbox in the near future. Like other manufacturers though, Mahindra’s automatic car production might be limited to the number of AMT gearbox modules that Magneti Marelli can produce.
