Wondering who’s Max Biaggi and why is his name in the title with an exclamation mark? Well, Biaggi is a person who has spent the better part of his life racing motorcycles and winning numerous world-level titles. The 45-year-old Italian has now joined hands with budding Moto3 constructor Mahindra Racing as a brand ambassador and team manager.
Mahindra Racing, which is doing great in the Moto3 with its MGP30 race machine, has been very successful as a constructor in this particular racing format. Now with the appointment of Max Biaggi, the team is looking stronger than ever.
Max, or Massimiliano “Max” Biaggi, started his professional racing career in the 250cc World Championship back in 1991 and went on to win the same championship for four consecutive times. He then moved to MotoGP in 1998 and registered 13 wins, 58 podium finishes and 128 starts till 2005. Biaggi then quickly moved to Superbike World Championship in 2007 wherein he won the 2010 and 2012 championship. Before retiring from racing on November 7, 2012, Biaggi had registered 2102 points in the Superbike World Championship; 1624 points in MotoGP, and 1268 points in the 250cc category, which is a tremendous feat for any motorcycle racer.
The Mahindra Racing team will certainly benefit from the presence of Biaggi, who has been nicknamed as 'il Corsaro' (the Corsair)– a fighter plane used in World War II. He, can not only contribute to the upliftment of the team with his racing expertise, but will also be a source of motivation for the young riders that Mahindra is cultivating for more Moto3 wins.
