Debutant Indian MotoGP team got a great start to the 2011 season with Danny Webb finishing 16th on the grid at the opening 125cc race in Qatar

Mahindra racing's Danny Webb showed superb race-craft in the opening round of the 2011 125cc World Championship in Qatar at the Losail circuit. The young lad started from the eighth row on the grid but swiftly made up places to get to a point scoring position in his very first race with the Indian outfit, Mahindra Racing. He held his position for most duration of the race but got passed on the last lap forcing him to finish in 16th place, barely missing the opportunity to score points. It was indeed a great race for Mahindra Racing with both its riders giving all that they had and fighting for positions in the middle order despite all new machines and backing from a first time entrant in MotoGP, Mahindra Racing. The tyres worked extremely well on both Mahindra bikes and while the tyre wear was visible in the final few laps on the rest of the Aprilia motorcycles, the Mahindra Racing pair was able to keep its pace and push till the final lap. The forgiving chassis of the Mahindra also helped the riders to exploit more potential from the motorcycles which played a key role in helping the two Mahindra riders to fight for position.

The opening round of the 2011 MotoGP season was super thrilling and exciting for the Mahindra Racing, who on their absolute debut outing in the sport showed strong pace, consistency and respectable results as the first Indian two-wheeler maker in MotoGP. The remaining season will certainly add more experience and development to the Mahindra efforts and we can surely expect much better results from the team and its talented pair of riders.
