A reel has surfaced on Instagram, giving a sneak peek at a camouflaged test mule of something like the Mahindra Global Pik Up against the scenic backdrop of Manali. This pickup truck is also based on the Mahindra Scorpio N and is similar to the last showcased concept shown in August 2023 in South Africa. This single-cab Pik Up would probably be more inclined towards the commercial segment and its India launch could follow the international markets, sometime in 2026.
The Global Pik Up was earlier speculated to carry the name, Scorpio X, based on a trademarked moniker by the Indian marque. However, we’ll have to wait to see if that turns out to be true. Till then, let’s take a look at what’s known so far:
The spy shot gives a clear view of the silhouette of the pickup truck in complete camouflage, while some portions of the front can also be seen. It retains much of the design of the Scorpio N but is noticeably longer. It features a blacked-out grille with vertical slats and the twin-peak Mahindra logo. It rides on similarly designed dual-tone alloy wheels and has indicators integrated into the ORVMs.
What’s different in the test mule is the absence of many rugged design elements that were showcased with the concept, such as the snorkel, roof-mounted LED accessories, and separate footboards for the four doors. In fact, this spied model is a two-door single-cabin version and is not exactly the concept that had been shown.
The Mahindra Scorpio N-based global pickup is expected to use an updated version of the mHawk 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. While the specs of the Scorpio N are known, this Pik Up possibly being intended for the commercial sector, the engine could be tuned down.
While its India launch hasn’t been confirmed yet with the test mule being spotted, we can expect the more rugged two-cabin version to arrive on our shores sometime in 2026. It can likely be priced upwards of Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) and that will make it an alternative to the only two players in this segment, the Isuzu V-cross and Toyota Hilux.
While the pickup truck segment remains relatively untapped in the Indian market, it will be interesting to see Mahindra venture into this space. With the brand already having strong credibility in the SUV and large vehicle segments, the Global Pik Up has the potential to draw in more buyers beyond just lifestyle customers. Only time will tell how this move plays out. Let’s wait and watch. Meanwhile, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
