Mahindra has trademarked a bunch of XUV monikers.
The only confirmed name as of now is the upcoming XUV700.
The XUV500 will also return as a two-row SUV.
Mahindra has trademarked a bunch of names with the XUV badge, which could be used for new models or to name already existing models. While it is customary for carmakers to trademark multiple similar names for future use or prevent rivals from using them, this move does give rise to some speculation.
The XUV900 could replace the Alturas G4, Mahindra’s flagship ladder-on-frame 7-seater SUV. In a segment that already has the Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster, and Toyota Fortuner, the XUV900 is almost certain to turn quite a few heads.
Another prominent trademark, the XUV100, could replace the KUV100. The latter never really cut the mustard, and that’s why we think it could be revamped and given a little extra oomph with the XUV moniker. It will compete with the upcoming Tata HBX and the already existing Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
The XUV400 and XUV700 badges have been trademarked as well. Mahindra will launch its next-gen mid-size SUV with the XUV700 badge somewhere around July to September. The XUV500 will also come back as a two-row SUV.
