This is just a small portion of a raft of safety features that will be offered on the three-row SUV

  • Essentially, you can record and play safety alerts in your loved one’s voice.

  • It will also feature multiple airbags, ADAS range of driver assists, and ABS with EBD.

  • Likely to be priced from Rs 16 lakh.

  • It will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.

As we get closer to the launch of Mahindra’s XUV700 three-row SUV, more details continue to surface.  After teasing LED headlights with high-beam assist, the carmaker has now revealed that the XUV700 will also get personalised safety alerts.

In simple terms, you can record safety alerts and play them in your vehicle. So, for instance, if you’re overspeeding, your loved one’s voice can remind you to put your foot off the gas for your safety. It’s a simple but feel-good safety feature that could add to the overall experience.

This is just a small portion of the safety features expected on board the XUV700. It should come with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, Level 1 autonomous technology with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and electronic stability control.

Safety aside, the XUV700 will also feature Mercedes-inspired dual-screens comprising the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, and dual-zone climate control.

Under the hood, it could share the Thar’s 150PS 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 130PS 2.2-litre diesel engines, but it will likely produce more grunt. Both engines should be paired with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes, with the segment-first all-wheel drivetrain as an option.

A recent image from the carmaker’s Pune plant hints at plans to commence production by July-end, with a launch sometime in August. Prices could start from Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against three-row SUVs such as the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector Plus.
