When Marc Marquez suffered a sickening highside crash in the MotoGP season opening Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez it was pretty apparent that it was not one he could just walk off. It was confirmed that the six-time premier class champion had broken a humerus bone in his right arm and would require surgery.
When that surgery was performed on Tuesday, MotoGP's traumatology specialist stated that it was likely that a return to racing would have to wait until round three on August 7 to 9.
However, Marquez not only made it back to Jerez today, but he was also declared fit to race in this weekend's second round of the MotoGP championship, the Andalucia Grand Prix!
Along with Marquez, Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Alex Rins and LCR Honda Castrol’s Cal Crutchlow were also injured after crashes prior to the season opener, which forced them to miss the race. They have also been declared fit to race by the medical team present at the Jerez circuit.
Crutchlow had suffered a fracture in the scaphoid in his left wrist while Rins had suffered a fracture and dislocation in his right shoulder following a crash in the closing stages of qualifying for the MotoGP season opener last Saturday.
