Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift Engine Details Revealed

Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the 2018 Ciaz on August 20. The updated model, which Maruti Suzuki hopes will let it continue its reign in the C-sedan segment, will be offered with both a petrol and diesel engine. However, the carmaker has announced that it will only be available with the petrol engine at launch. It’s learnt that the updated sedan will feature the all-new K15B unit that made its debut with the second-gen Ertiga in the Indonesian market. This motor will be paired to Suzuki’s SHVS mild-hybrid system for enhanced fuel efficiency too.

The petrol-powered Ciaz is likely to put out the same power and torque figures as the second-gen Ertiga - 105PS at 6000rpm and 138Nm at 4400rpm, respectively. However, while the second-gen Ertiga has a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 18kmpl under the Indonesian Test Cycle, the Ciaz facelift with the SHVS mild-hybrid tech is set to return a 21.56kmpl with the manual transmission. Yes, Maruti Suzuki will continue to offer the petrol-powered Ciaz with an automatic transmission. It is likely to be the same 4-speed AT found in the second-gen Ertiga. With this gearbox, the claimed fuel efficiency drops marginally to 20.28kmpl.

If you haven’t guessed by now, the new Ciaz petrol is not only more powerful than the older version powered by a 1.4-litre motor, it is more efficient too. Check out the table below for a proper comparison. This rings true for both the manual and automatic versions of the sedan.
