Sources within Maruti Suzuki India have confirmed to ZigWheels that they will be launching the facelifted Ignis at Auto Expo 2020. The facelifted model will come with minor cosmetic updates inside out and possibly a BS6-compliant petrol engine.
The first update that you’ll notice in the new Ignis is the redesigned grille with ‘U’-shaped chrome inserts, and the more rugged front and rear bumpers with skid plates. Elements like the alloy wheels, headlamps and tail lamps have been carried over from the existing model.
Inside, the facelifted Ignis could be offered with Maruti’s updated Smartplay Studio 7.0-inch infotainment system. Other updates might include a new dashboard colour scheme, trim and upholstery.

We expect the facelifted Ignis to retain its features from the current model, including its highlights like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted audio controls, a multi-info display, climate control, keyless entry with push button start as well as LED headlamps with DRLs. It could also retain the existing model’s safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert and driver and co-driver seatbelt warning.
The facelifted Ignis is expected to come with the BS6-compliant 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine that currently does duty in many new Marutis. It develops 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque, same as the BS4 model. We expect it to be offered with both a 5-speed manual as well as an AMT. Expect the BS6 Ignis’ fuel efficiency to dip slightly when compared to the existing version’s 20.89kmpl figure.
The BS6 Ignis facelift is expected to command a slight premium over the current model which starts from Rs 4.74 lakh (ex-showroom). It will renew its rivalry with the Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
