Maruti Suzuki Ritz Diesel facelift Launched

Word of a more vivacious looking version of the Ritz, better known as the Suzuki Splash in overseas markets has been a major cause of speculation for a while now and even before anxious customers could knock on MSIL’s (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) front door the indigenous car manufacturer has come forward with no prior intimation and unveiled its refreshed Ritz Diesel for the Indian market.

An already well received and lavishly awarded hatchback in its former years the Ritz has been reworked to now entice new age buyers and packs as many as 52 changes that include a far more appealing new frontal design, dual tone interiors, a multi-information display on instrument panel, new audio system with USB, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors and more.

Under the hood of the new Ritz Diesel is its venerable DDis oil mill that will continue to produce performance figures of 75PS@4000rpm and 190Nm@ 2000rpm just like on the older model. An efficient family hatch to begin with, interested Ritz diesel customers can now look forward to reaping the benefits of a 10% improvement in fuel efficiency from 21.1 kmpl to 23.2 kmpl on the new Ritz Diesel.

Speaking about the introduction of the new Ritz Diesel, Manohar Bhat, Vice President (Marketing) Maruti Suzuki India said, “It is heartening to see a fairly young brand crossing 200,000 sales mark in just 37 months. This reflects the huge customer acceptability of the Ritz. Numerous changes being introduced now will make the Ritz brand more vibrant. Most important, the new Ritz is more fuel-efficient with enhanced driving comfort. This makes it even more attractive for the customer and also gives us confidence to generate additional sales.”

Colour options on the revised hatchback now include Mystique Red, Granite Grey, Breeze Blue, Superior White, Silky Silver and Bakers Chocolate. Mystique Red is an exclusive colour for new Ritz.

Priced at Rs 5.31 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base diesel model all the way up to Rs 6.23 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for a newly introduced high-end ZDi variant now takes the price range for the facelifted version beyond the 6 lakh barrier.

Nevertheless with better efficiency on the road and a host of new comfort oriented features the Ritz is now at par with its current day competitors and just like when it was first launched back in 2008, four years down the line once again makes for a compelling B-segment people’s car.
