The petrol-powered S-Cross will be offered in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. While the manual gearbox will be offered on all four variants, the automatic transmission will be limited to the top three. We hope Maruti offers the Smart Hybrid system on all variants.

The petrol-powered S-Cross doesn’t feature any major cosmetic updates. Instead, the highlights here are Maruti’s updated Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bits like climate control, cruise control, LED headlamps, keyless entry with push button start and automatic headlamps will be retained. On the safety front, it’ll come with dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, rear parking sensors and a rear view camera.

Most of you know that the S-Cross will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. But here’s a quick brush up: This unit develops 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque and will be offered with a 4-speed automatic transmission, a first for the S-Cross. Manual variants will use a 5-speed unit. Both variants are likely to be paired with a mild hybrid system for torque boost and start-stop functionality.

Prices for the petrol-powered S-Cross are likely to start from Rs 8.5 lakh, putting it in the ballpark of Renault’s Duster, Hyundai’s Creta and Kia’s Seltos. What do you think about the petrol-powered S-Cross? Would you miss the punchy nature of its diesel engine? Let us know in the comments below.
