With just a few days left for its official debut, Maruti Suzuki has revealed the S-Presso in its full glory in a video. To jog your memory, the S-Presso is a mini-cross hatch that will take on the likes of the Renault Kwid.
The front end of the S-Presso is dominated by a stubby nose that houses the sleek grille with chrome elements. A pair of halogen headlamps merge into the grille while the bumper comes with black cladding for a rugged appeal. In profile, the S-Presso comes with slightly flared wheel arches and 14-inch steel wheels for a bit of oomph. That said, the profile of the S-Presso looks more like a jacked up Alto. At the back, the S-Presso comes with an upright tailgate and halogen tail lamps.
Just like the Future-S concept, the interior of the production-spec model comes with a Mini Cooper-like round central console. The top part is occupied by the digital speedometer while the centre houses the Smartplay Studio touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel is similar to the Wagon R but loses the premium silver accents. Orange trims are present around the central console and AC vents and these could be colour-coordinated with the exterior shade.
The interior picture also reveals key features of the S-Presso including its dual airbags, steering-mounted audio controls, Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and manual HVAC. Other expected features include keyless entry with push-button start and multi-info display.
The pictures also confirm that the S-Presso will come with an AMT option. Powering it is a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine that develops 68PS of power and 96Nm of torque. Apart from the AMT, a 5-speed manual gearbox will be offered as well. Maruti has also confirmed that all its small cars will be offered with a CNG variant, so we expect the S-Presso to come with one at a later date.
The S-Presso has started arriving at dealerships and is slated to launch on September 30. Prices are expected to start from Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it will take on the likes of the Datsun redi-GO and the Renault Kwid facelift.
