Waiting for a more powerful and frugal petrol Swift? Well, your dreams may soon come true as Maruti Suzuki could launch the Swift with a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol motor. Read more about the Dualjet motor here. This engine could replace the existing 83PS 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine and 75PS 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine.
The specifications of the Swift’s Dualjet engine may be similar to the recently launched 2020 Dzire. It could develop 90PS of power and 113Nm of torque, 7PS more than the K12B petrol engine. Just like the Dzire, the Swift’s powertrain too could skip on the 12v mild-hybrid system. However, it may come with start-stop functionality, which could aid in fuel efficiency.
We expect the Swift Dualjet to have similar figures as the Dzire Dualjet -- a claimed efficiency of 24.12kmpl and 23.26kmpl for the manual and AMT variant respectively. These figures are considerably better than the Swift petrol, which has a claimed efficiency of 21.21kmpl.

Maruti is likely to use this opportunity to give the Swift a much-needed facelift. Expected upgrades include a redesigned grille, new bumpers, and slightly redesigned tail lamps. Inside, it may come with revised interior trim and upholstery design, an updated instrument console, and new 7.0-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system.
The Swift Dualjet is expected to launch in the country in the coming months. Expect it to be priced a tad above the current model, which starts from Rs 5.19 lakh (ex-showroom). The Swift Dualjet will lock horns with the Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, and the Hyundai Grand i10.
