Here’s the final piece of the Swift puzzle - the price!
Prices for what’s easily the most anticipated hatchback of 2018 are finally here. Maruti Suzuki has launched the 2018 Swift with prices starting at Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Here’s the variant-wise price list
Petrol
LXi - Rs 4.99 lakh
VXi - Rs 5.87 lakh
VXi AGS - Rs 6.34 lakh
ZXi - Rs 6.49 lakh
ZXi AGS - Rs 6.96 lakh
ZXi+ - Rs 7.29 lakh
Diesel
LDi - Rs 5.99 lakh
VDi - Rs 6.87 lakh

For reference, prices of the Ignis range between Rs 4.66 lakh and Rs 8.12 lakh, whereas the Baleno carries a sticker price in the range of Rs 5.36 lakh to Rs 8.50 lakh, depending upon the variant. The Swift’s sedan sibling - the Dzire - starts at Rs 5.56 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 9.43 lakh.
What Maruti Suzuki has also done is made the Swift a tad more practical. Thanks to the Heartect platform, it’s wider by 40mm while the wheelbase has grown by 20mm as well. Naturally, it’s a lot more accommodating than before. Topping things off is the 268-litre boot that’s now on par with rivals such as the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Ford Figo.

On the features front - dual airbags, anti-lock brakes and Isofix child seat mounts are offered as standard. The top-spec Z+ variant gets goodies such as automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a reverse camera and LED projector headlamps.
Yes, Maruti Suzuki is carrying forward the same 1.2- and 1.3-litre petrol and diesel engines that powered the second-gen Swift. Power figures remain unchanged at 83PS/113Nm and 75PS/190Nm, respectively. But, for the first time - the Swift gets an automatic transmission. What’s more, the two-pedal technology is available with both motors. ARAI-certified fuel efficiency stands at 22kmpl for the petrol and 28.4kmpl for the diesel.
