Showcased at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the GranCabrio Fendi sports convertible is the joint creation of Italy’s iconic Maserati and Fendi. It was crafted at the company headquarters at Modena, using materials and colours designed by Silvia Fendi.
Powered by a 4.7-litre V8 engine churning out 446PS of power @ 7000rpm and 490Nm of torque @ 4750rpm, it is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts. The fashion house’s double ‘F’ logo features in the centre of the wheel rims, the double-stitched quilted seats and the brake calipers are classic yellow Fendi. Fendi Pergamena wood trim adorns the dashboard, door panels and gear knob. The Italian designer’s Selleria range has been used to finish the instrument dial peaks, gear level, carpet and travel kit.
The event also showcased five essential elements as part of the collaboration, two volumes of The Whispered Directory of Craftsmanship, The Whispered Soundtrack, and special preview of the Whispered Documovie in four episodes inspired by the ancient tradition of Italian Grand Tour that will board four select personalities on a road trip across Italy in a GranCabrio Fendi.
Maserati has been designing vehicles for connoisseurs since the early 1950s. The convertible range from the Modenese car maker – A6/G 2000 Frua Spyder, 3500 GT Frua Spyder, 3500 Vignale GT Spyder, Mistral Spyder, Ghibli Spyder and so on till the GranCabrio, Maserati’s first four-door sports convertible, embody what the brand it is known for – excellence.
